 Description:  Acknowledging that restoration is the fastest growing segment of the construction industry, this class explores the deterioration mechanisms of masonry buildings, restoration standards, masonry restoration materials and methods and opportunities in restoration for existing masonry contractors.

 Tips to Optimize Structural Masonry


Description:  
Seminar attendees will learn about the many tips for designing and specifying structural masonry to make certain that project documents include both architectural and engineering requirements for masonry.  Discover some practical ideas and advice for designers in masonry attributes and jobsite tips for structural masonry, which can be the most economical structural solution, serving as both framing system and exterior envelope. Learn how masonry can be the primary structural system (load bearing achieved with bearing and shear walls) or integrated with a steel or reinforced concrete frame in the form of a hybrid masonry and frame system.

Keith F. Lashway, P.E. is the Director of Market Development and Technical Services for the International Masonry Institute’s Upstate New York Region.

Keith is has over 40 years experience in civil/structural engineering, including project/construction management, estimating and material specifications.  He is the Area VP with the New York State Society of Professional Engineers and Capital District Post President with the Society of American Military Engineers.

He is a graduate of Hudson Valley Community College in Architecture and University of Buffalo in Civil Engineering and is a licensed professional engineer in New York State.
