B.B. KING coming Saturday, April 19th, 2014 – 8PM to Lehman Center

B.B. KING

King of the Blues

Saturday, April 19th, 2014 – 8PM

Tickets: $100, $75, $65, $55
B.B. King is an icon of his art form and an American cultural ambassador in the truest sense. Drawing on his rural Mississippi roots and the work of Delta blues legends Charley Patton and Robert Johnson, he helped propel the blues into the electric era. In the process, he pushed a wave ridden by Jimi Hendrix, Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton, Keith Richards, Jimmy Page, and countless other guitarists worldwide over the last half century.

Far from being an unsung hero of his craft, he has been honored with a National Medal of Arts, the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the Kennedy Center Honor, the NEA’s National Heritage Fellowship, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, 15 Grammy Awards, and a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. He was rated among the Top 10 guitarists of all time by both TIME and Rolling Stone magazines.

Nearing age 90, he states simply, “I never use that word, ‘retire.’”
