Subject:       “The Effect of Micro-textured CoCrMo-carbide Surfaces on the Attachment and Viability of Osteoblast-like MG63” – Wear of total joint replacement (TJR) articulating surfaces is a major concern in the orthopaedic community and the improved wear performance of implantable materials is of great interest.  All foreign particles generated within the body, have the potential to initiate an inflammatory response.  In this presentation, Dr. Sullivan discusses the challenge of designing a biocompatible material couple with no friction and no wear, and the creation and testing of various CoCrMo-carbide surfaces to determine biocompatibility.

Cost:                Free to all Student Members and Members, $20.00 for all other attendees – to be paid at door by cash or check only.
